Big Bad Wolf is back to bring delight to every book lover as it opens its doors on its second year in Metro Manila. Beginning February 22, the “world’s biggest book sale” will run for 11 straight days at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
This year, the organizers are bringing two million books on sale across a range of genres including bestsellers, YA, children’s books, references, history, and biographies and memoirs. We checked it out ourselves to see what they have got to offer. Here are some of our favorite things in this year’s Big Bad Wolf:
1. The prices are ridiculous. Books are discounted up to 90%!
It’s no wonder visitors go around the exhibition halls with carts or trolleys in tow. Some even have another one or two more. Most book prices range from P190 to P 290, and graphic novels start from P350. It’s almost disappointing if you won’t scan and look for a title you like in whatever genre.
2. It’s child-friendly.

A huge part of the venue is dedicated to materials for children to enjoy. This includes picture books, puzzles, interactive stories, curriculum, book sets, and a lot more.
3. They have augmented reality
Speaking of children, the Book Sale also has Little Hippo this year which showcases a selection of augmented reality books for kids. Parents can download the companion app and let their children experience awe as they watch the pages of their books come alive. The organizers on site are also happy to explain to parents and curious minds how the augmented reality books work.
4. They are proactive and self-aware.
They know their crowd. These are everyone’s favorite book set collection and they know their visitors will most likely inquire of them too. We couldn’t help but giggle upon reading the signs. They must have anticipated how frustrating it would be to keep on telling inquirers they don’t have these sets – which is true, so good job on putting the signs!
5. Book sets
What about the relatively lesser known titles that are nevertheless great stories as well? Well, Big Bad Wolf has them too, so don’t fret if the more popular book series aren’t available. They have Roald Dahl’s crazy imagination in a set for you. YA favorites like James Dashner’s The Maze Runner series and Rick Riordan’s The Trials of Apollo are present, too.
6. Not all children’s books are for children alone.
The children’s area are not for children solely. Yes, most items are books, puzzles, and specialty items targeted to kids but they also have books with gorgeous art that even adults will admire, love, and buy.
7. The wide assortment of offers.
They have coloring books for both children and adults, floor puzzles of famous characters, stories, and the seven continents. They have encyclopedias of popular children’s games like Minecraft and interactive books of more popular titles like Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.
8. Best of all, it’s free entrance and open 24 hours from Feb 22 until March 4. There’s parking in the venue but it might get crowded on weekends. If you have the option of avoiding the crowd and are in a more leisurely browse, you may opt to come and visit during off hours.
