The month of February is also known as Love Month or Hearts Month. But aside from buying the best Valentine’s Day gift or picking the perfect romantic spot for a date, it’s also important for us to look after our hearts and make sure that it’s healthy. Aside from exercise and having an active lifestyle, a healthy diet is just as important to strengthen our hearts.
Fortunately, there are many types of food that are good for the heart, including a dish with salmon as its main ingredient. According to celebrity chef Alyana Asistio, salmon has many health benefits, such as being a good source of protein, a source of potassium and Omega 3, and helping us avoid the risk of heart disease. In an episode of Beyond The Plate on Plus Network, Asistio reveals how to prepare and cook this flavorful and heart-friendly dish that is good for our health and is perfect for Hearts Month.
Heart-Healthy Salmon Dish
To make this heart-healthy salmon dish, you need:
- Salmon
- Olive Oil
- Water
- Lemon
- Salt
- Black Pepper
– To begin you need to season the salmon with salt and black pepper. You need to do this before placing the salmon in a frying pan so that its skin will not stick in the pan.
– Then, you can heat the pan and add olive oil to it before adding the salmon. Wait for it to cook and make sure that the skin will develop a crust.
– After the skin is cooked, flip the salmon over and wait for the other side to cook. Make sure that it doesn’t stick to the pan.
– After both sides of the salmon are cooked, add the minced garlic, then add water once the garlic is cooked.
– Wait for the salmon to simmer and once it does, you add the lemon. Wait for the water to disappear and the garlic to caramelize before serving the dish.
By following these simple steps, you can make yourself a delicious salmon dish that is also healthy for the heart, which is perfect not only for Hearts Month but all throughout the year!
