Mothering is in the details. It’s in the pounds the baby is gaining. It’s in the schedule of vaccines the kids are supposed to take. It’s in the classes we are enrolling them this summer. It’s in the myriad of daily decisions that leads to the gentle maturing of the children. Motherhood is constant, demanding, and often overwhelming.
It’s no easy task to not just keep another human being alive, but thrive. Mothers, who are either stay-at-home or working moms, face the same pressure that often they find themselves at the crossroads of decision making. It is in these times that they no longer feel, think, and act solely for themselves but also, or mostly, for the child they nurture and the family they value.
Despite spending another tiring day of parenting all the while trying to earn money to help the family finances along with countless other humps on the road, mothers seem to have an incredible gift of love, understanding, and patience. Undeniably, it’s the hardest job in the world.
How do we now show appreciation to these inspiring women who will wholeheartedly take on the hardest jobs in the world for us? When was the last time you said thank you to these women who have been there since day 1 and haven’t left since? They gave us food. They cared for us when we were sick. They were there during our swimming lessons, graduation rites, birthday celebrations. They were there to pick us up during down times and there for a heartwarming hug that brought us back to our feet again.
When was the last time you said, “thank you, Ma”?
